Here is Brudda Mark Roberts from Portland, Oregon, with his custom (self
made) "Ukoa" ukulele. Mark took the basic Fluke shape and really made
it betta, yeah? Cut out Hibiscus sound hole, walnut neck, ebony
and abalone inlay, a very nice curly koa soundboard wid some jammin' Aquila
strings to bring out da awesome resonance. Dis Ukoa da kine,
cuz!
Brudda Jay and myself, jammin on a surprise retirement party and sunset cruise aboard the
Shoreliner in Marina Del Rey, Ca. We were very well received. (Of course).
The South Bay Strummers, (above), May, 2004, Jammin again at the
Torrance Senior Faire. We had a very nice turn out and as usual we brought the
house down wid our world famous tunes. They really came to see Jessica in her
coconut top and grass skirt, but dis year all they get is her feet.
(Maybe next year Island Bruddas..... maybe next year)
The South Bay Strummers, May, 2004, playin at the Pacific
Island Celebration for Asian-Pacific Heritage Month at the Torrance City Library.
Small group-ettes played on Friday afternoon as well as the Wednesday evening presentations.
The group was very well received and even drew some hula girls out of the audience.
