STRUMMERS SCALES PAGE TWO
Welcome to my Strummers Scales Page Two.
I put the following scales in TAB form
in order to allow many people who do not wish to learn to read music at this time,
the ability to play basic scales. I have placed instructions on how to read TAB (in
case you're new at this) below. If you are familiar with TAB notation,
jump ahead to the scales below.
The following instructions are for the scale images below.
The four spaces of the staff represent your ukulele strings.
The staff, as you see it on your computer screen, models your ukulele
fretboard (as if you were looking down at it).
The bottom space is your
"G" string
The second space (from the bottom) is your
"C" string
The third space (from the bottom) is your
"E" string
and the top space is your
"A" string
On the scale images, the string spaces contain numbers. Those numbers are the
specific frets (on that particular string) that you need to finger in order
to sound the pitch given above.
Example
On the C scale below, the numbers (in the second space) are 0 and 2,
followed
by the numbers 0 and 1 in the third space. That means that on the C string (second
space) you need to finger and play the open string (C) and the 2nd fret (D)
, followed by the open E string and the first fret of that string (F).
So far, you've played C, D, E and F; (Do, Re, Mi and Fa).
As you pick each note, hopefully, you get the complete Do, Re,
Mi, Fa, So, La, Ti and Do.
If you just want the scale, play the first two measures (as the notes ascend)
then play the same two measures backwards, (descending).
If you play the entire four measure scale you'll get the ascending scale,
followed by an arpeggiation of that scales' (the scale you're playing) M9.
