Aaahhh brah, here we are on da beach and you wanna be jammin' but you pull your instrument outta your trunk, where its been all day long in da hot Island sun, (Where it should NOT have been brah, What I been tellin you? Why you no listen what nobody tell you? Sheesh! )

Anyways, you find out your strings go on vacation too, yeah? You got no expensive chromatic tuner to help you tune your uke, what you gonna do now, cuz?
Den you rememba that you printed this page and stuff it in your case and you know that in one minute, you gonna be da Kine jammin' Island fool!

Follow these cool Island steps and it will help you tune your ukulele so you can jam it on brah. Dis page gonna allow you to tune your uke so you can play in tune, it's not gonna tune you to all the other braddahs, yeah? If you gonna be playin' wid others, you tune from them, or retune again with a tuner.

This page only hear so you can tune to You.

Here we go..rememba, dis is to tune by ear.

You got the four strings, G, C, E and A, yeah? We gonna numba the strings now too.

G, C, E and A, are numbered
4, 3, 2 and 1, respectively.

First
Start with the 3rd string, C, and tighten it enough where it gives you a nice sound you think might be somewhere around the C you are always hearin'. Anywhere close is good. Once you have done this, make sure you don't adjust this string no more, yeah?

Now on this C string, finger the 4th fret and listen to the sound it makes when you play it. The note you are playing on this 4th fret is an E. This is the sound you want the 2nd string to have.
Move down to the 2nd string, E.

Second
Now that you are on the 2nd string, E, you want it to sound like the 4th fret on the C string. You may have to go back and forth fingering and playing the 4th fret on the C string and adjusting the E string, either way, make the E string sound like that 4th fret C string pitch.
When you're done, don't adjust this string again, cuz.

Now on this string, finger the 3rd fret and listen to the sound it makes when you play it. The note you are playing on the 3rd fret is a G. This is the sound you want the 4th string to have.
Move up to the 4th string.

Third
Now that you are on the 4th string, G, you want it to sound like the 3rd fret on the E string. You may have to go back and forth fingering and playing the 3rd fret on the E string and adjusting the G string, either way, make the G string sound like that 3rd fret E string pitch.
When you're done, don't adjust this string again, brah.

Now on this string, finger the 2nd fret and listen to the sound it makes when you play it. The note you are playing on the 2nd fret is an A. This is the sound you want the 1st string to have. Move down to the 1st string. You may have to go back and forth fingering and playing the 2nd fret on the G string and adjusting the A string, either way, make the A string sound like that 2nd fret G string pitch.

Lastly
This should be enough to get your ukulele in tune. Rememba, this tunes it to itself only. You wanna play with others, you gonna need to retune to exact pitches.

Enjoy, Island Jamma!
